Feature Article – Mid-Year Resolutions to Keep You Healthy Onsite – By Rebecca Hunter
|
 |
Many of us made New Year’s Resolutions, and I would bet that most of us didn’t stick with them beyond January 8th. However, spring is in the air and time has come for the joys in life… outdoor walks, fresh air, weekends at the beach, vacations and meetings! Maintaining our mental health can be challenging enough, but maintaining physical health can be even harder. In this industry, networking, socializing, attending functions, and demanding schedules can make it difficult to take care of your self. In an effort to stick with my mid-year resolution to meet my weight goal by August, I have established five tips to stay on target while on-site.
|
|
1. Choose healthier foods. By selecting foods that are fulfilling, but not over-filling, you can manage your food intake, and save those earned calories for the glass of wine you might need at dinner time or a reasonable dessert.
2. Find time for one activity you enjoy each day. Finding time to engage in activity that relaxes you will help you to feel less stressed. If you are less stressed, it is easier to choose foods that keep you on point, rather than comfort foods that are high in calories.
3. Keep healthy snacks on hand. We all know that there will be times when 3:00 comes around and you realize that you forgot to eat lunch and now you are starving. Try to prevent yourself from eating afternoon cookie leftovers, and bring a low-fat granola bar or a banana for a snack between meals.
4. Keep one hour of your evening…yours! Decide to stop working one hour before you plan to go to sleep, soak in the tub, watch your favorite TV show, or treat yourself to a nice glass of herbal tea and read your favorite book. Give yourself time to unwind before attempting to get a full night’s rest.
5. Give yourself a calm fresh start. Spend 10 minutes waking up, watching morning news, having that first cup of tea or coffee and mentally prepare yourself for the day ahead.
While no one is perfect and you may very well have days when thinking of these five steps will put you over the edge, persistence is the key to keeping yourself on track. Cheers to a healthy and prosperous 2008.

The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course has been honored with the coveted Gold Medal from Golf Magazine and prestigiously rated by Golf Digest as a Five-Star award winner. Highlights include the custom-designed, handcrafted Honduran mahogany Eagle boats that pick you up for a scenic 5 minute ride to the course; over-the-water driving range; forecaddie; complimentary “range massage” and custom deluxe golf carts. The first thing you’ll notice about the course is the incredibly manicured bentgrass fairways, which offer the same textured playing surface as most greens. Of course, we give you the famous Floating Green. It’s the world’s first and only moveable floating golf green and it offers players an amazing challenge.
The new Spa Coeur d’Alene, recently named “World’s Most Romantic Spa” by MSNBC and ranked as a Top 54 Spa by Conde Nast Traveler, is a 30,000 square foot facility that boasts state-of-the-art hydrotherapy treatments and Northwest-inspired therapies. This $10 million facility features treatment rooms with stunning lake views.
The Resort’s highly touted Beverly’s restaurant, and its distinctive Northwest cuisine, continues to be internationally recognized by DiRoNA’s Fine Dining Award for the 18th consecutive year. With over $1.5 million of wine in stock, it’s no wonder Beverly’s has also received Wine Spectator Magazine’s Grand Award. Whether you're in the mood for sushi, fresh Idaho trout, a taste of the region's finest wine cellar or a world-famous Gooey dessert, let us take care of your craving at one of our other fine restaurants: Dockside, Bonsai Bistro, Tito Macaroni's, The Cedars Floating Restaurant, Beachouse and Mulligans.
